Hearing Voices Network Ontario was created by Madison McConnell, a master’s student in Critical Disability Studies at York University and a lived experience advocate in her own right. Madison believes in the ‘by and for’ model, in which individuals with psychosis should be able to run and lead forms of care for themselves without the intervention of clinicians. Madison is currently organizing Hearing Voices Network Ontario as an incorporated association, but hopes to develop this initiative into a registered non-profit where members having equal standing and vote on what’s important to them within the non-profit.
